Los Angeles - Joon-ho Bong Retrospective - Advance Screening & Director Q&A

On December 11 and 12, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art will host a retrospective of critically acclaimed Korean director Joon-ho Bong. All four of Bong's movies will play, including the yet-to-be-released MOTHER. The schedule is:

December 11 at 7:30pm - THE HOST
December 11 at 9:40pm - BARKING DOGS NEVER BITE
December 12 at 4:30pm - MEMORIES OF MURDER
December 12 at 7:30pm - MOTHER

Following the screening of MOTHER, director Joon-ho Bong will participate in a Q&A session.

For Your Consideration - Happy Thanksgiving!

For Your Consideration is a weekly round-up of upcoming indie limited releases. The idea is to either expose you to or remind you of films that can't afford to plaster their posters on the sides of buildings or accompany your Happy Meal in toy form.

This week, we have a handful of new releases to be thankful for: the limited release of Disney's return to 2-D animation in The Princess and the Frog, Zac Efron's effort to prove he's more than a High School Musical heartthrob in Me and Orson Welles, stunning Robyn Wright Penn in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, and a film about surviving after the end of the world in The Road. All we know for sure is, if anyone in your family insists on celebrating the holiday by seeing Old Dogs, you should probably turn them down. The Academy of Arts and Sciences is hosting a screening of to celebrate the 20th anniversary of FIELD OF DREAMS. The event will be hosted by LA Times Film Critic Kenneth Turan and feature a cast and crew reunion. Scheduled to appear are actors Kevin Costner and Timothy Busfield, writer/director Phil Robinson, producers Chuck Gordon and Lawrence Gordon and production designer Dennis Gassner. At the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in LA, on December 16 at 7:30pm.
